What is my Ruger doing?

Gentlemen, I recenntly purchased a Ruger Security Six with a 3" barrel. It is in very good condition but an early (old style grip frame) Secuity Six. (.357 MAG) When I shoot it sometimes it does not index the cylinder properly to fire a round. This occurs on double action ONLY. I own another Security Six and it indexs and operates fine in double action shooting. When I dry fire it with a smooth deliberate trigger stroke you can see the pawl engage the cylinder and cause it to index past the next chamber before the (don't know the proper name) little tab comes up and engages the cut in the cylinder locking the cylinder in position. I have replaced the Wolf springs with original Ruger springs but it is still the same. There seems to be a heavy hitch at the start of the trigger pull then it smooths out. I have taken both guns apart and all parts look the same with no burs or other issues. Any suggestions?....

thanks Darryl
