What is Shotgun Max Tube capacity (Semi-Auto's)

I know the law states the max is 5.
Does that mean the tube can take 5 maxium... +1 in the chamber or 4?

I know semi-auto centerfire rifles that have magazines are pinned to 5 (but there can always be one in the chamber).

With a shotgun you pretty much have to put one in the chamber right away, then load the tube.

This is where I am confused... is the chamber considered in the "Maximum" equation?

So... let's hear it?
Semi-Tube is limited to 5 (+1 Chamber) or 4 (+1 Chamber)

Well, this is all I could find...

"As a general rule, the maximum magazine capacity is:

* 5 cartridges for most magazines designed for a semi-automatic centre-fire long gun; or"

So, since the "tube" is the magazine, I would think that 5+1 is fine... correct?

That's right, 5 in the magazine of the shells for which the shotgun is chambered; so, if your shotgun is chambered for 12 x 3 1/2" shells, and you manage to stuff EIGHT of the 12 x 2 1/2" shells in there, it's still OK. It doesn't count either the shell in the chamber OR the shell (if any) on the lifter; designs like the Benelli allow you to have 5 in the tube, 1 on the lifter, and 1 in the chamber.

You ALSO HAVE THE B.C. HUNTING AND TRAPPING REGULATIONS page 7 " It is unlawful to hunt with a set gun, or hunt wildlife with a pump, repeating or auto-loading shotgun with a magazine capable of holding more than two shells". Other provinces may have similar regs. It was part of the MIGRATORY BIRD ACT but has somehow got bastardized into the normal hunting regs. It's strange, I can hunt a BEAR with a SEMI-AUTO rifle that can hold 6 rounds ( 5 + 1 in the chamber) but I can't carry a PUMP SHOTGUN for BEAR PROTECTION with more than 3 rounds ( 2 + 1 in the chamber). Someone in the GOVERNMENT must have made up those regulations BUT I guess what can you expect, even when they control the police , the courts and make the laws they still can get caught stealing from the people, they just don't go to jail ,YET.

Here in NS I think its a max of 3 shells when hunting migratory bird and whatever you can stuff into it for big and upland game.
