What is the advantage of threaded barrels?

I searched but couldn't find barrel threaded friendly accessories etc. so I don't get it, why buy a extended barrel and pay extra to have it threaded?

some re-barreled guns that otherwise would be prohibited in Canada have threaded barrels, so they don't look as stupid with a longer barrel hanging out...

Advantages? Thread barrels are designed to accept a silencer (which are illegal here). You can buy/make a fake can but I don’t see the point….it just makes the gun longer and a lot heavier. if it's not real it's not cool

In Canada it would be to un-prohib a gun, like a G19 that is close to or just shy of the 106MM mark. The main reason in the US would be for a suppressor.

I know EFK has an option for a 1/2 inch extension and a 1/2 inch threaded extension.

Threaded barrels offer a very real advantage when the receiver has the same corresponding thread.

you could also hang a counter weight on the end (old school IPSC, pre- ported compensator)

Yeah silencers give me the creeps too. Loudeners downright scare me though.
