what is the best 1911

i have to say it- COLT- mkiv, series 70, but without the finger bushing- the rest are CLONES

I've had numerous 1911's from the basic Norc's to Ed Brown's, I've kept the EB and another semi-custom but sold all the others...

The anwser to your question really is: tell me how much are you willing to spend to own the very best, buy a few of them semi-customs and full customs, shoot them till you feel the most comfortable with one or two and sell the others... That's what I did. YMMV

im new to the sport and just thought id ask what the opinions of everyone were, what is it that makes the ed brown such a favorite of yours? any thoughts on what a good starter 1911 would be other then a gsg

I was very impressed with the Norinco 1911. They are very inexpensive when you consider competition, and function (in my experience) flawlessly. However, they are a bit rough cosmetically, but they were not meant to be pretty, just to work. You should give one some thought, invest a tiny bit in new sights and a trigger and it'll most likely still be a good deal. Save that extra $300+ for ammo, you'll need it, and want it.

Next question: What is the best pickup truck?

There is no _best_. Determine your budget; decide what options and features you need for the kind of shooting you want to do....then go shopping.

My Norinco is perfect for me. With an Armco trigger job and prep it is very shootable and reliable and does perfectly as a casual range gun, and cost me a total of about $500. That is the best 1911 for me. Your needs/wants may be different. Figure those out and you'll be way closer to your goal.
