I am looking for a nr semi-auto 22wmr rifle, but not finding many here in Canada.
I have only found 4 models in my price range and would like the opinion of any owners, to narrow the field.

Savage A22
Rossi RS22
CZ 512
Keltec CMR30 (only finding these in restricted barrel lengths)

Volquartsen

Magnum Research

EDIT: disregard, sorry I didn't notice your comment about price range.

I think IRG used to sell the CMR30 with a stock that can only collapse part-way so it could be NR. The barrel length isn't the issue, as its a rimfire, you just need to make sure its OAL cannot go below the legal limit. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do something similar with your own gun if you bought one that was R to begin with, but then you'd need to get it reclassified which might be harder than just finding one that is already NR.

My question would be why 22wmr? Its barely cheaper than bulk 223, you can't reload it, and its not known for particularly good accuracy because nobody makes high end ammo like you can get for 22lr. I go through phases where I want a 22wmr, but then I always end up changing my mind, so I'm curious as to what is driving you towards it?

I have to be honest and say I don't own any of the rifles listed, but I have had good experiences with both Savage and CZ firearms in general. My understanding is that .22 WMR is tricky to get in a reliable semi-auto platform, other than that, watch as many videos on the .22 WMR semi autos as you can, hopefully handle all prior to purchase, and make your decision from there.

could be:

it shoots flatter and farther and hits harder at all ranges. The 40-grain (2.6g) .22 WMR at 100 yards (91m) still has 50% more kinetic energy than a 40-grain (2.6g) .22 LR at the muzzle.

Fer my uses with the .22 wmr over the years, it's been a fun little number that's suited me purposes nicely. Little critters to meat critters at sensible ranges, it worked fine on my end. Haven't had an auto version though.

Yup IRG used to sell the CMR 30 with a spacer in the stock so it wouldn’t collapse all the way thus making it NR
They don’t sell it anymore so if you want one you will have to get a used one off the EE
They are fun little rifles to shoot

I've got an A17 Target Sporter and it is amazingly accurate ~1moa at 100 yards. No reliability issues to speak of and the 25 round BC magazines are well built. I also have two Ruger 10/22 Magnums, one stock, the other in a Boyds stock with a Lilja barrel, both shoot great, but these are unicorns and $$$.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

22wmr packs a decent punch for plinking or critters Personally I would prefer another 22 wmr over 17hmr as I already have a 22wmr.

HK 22 magnum is one of the best, but it costs

This Heckler and Koch 300 is listing for $1995.-USD. Mine is stupidly accurate and comes apart with the help of an allen key. Trigger group drops out like a Garand. Got mine on the EE; they show up on ####### occasionally. It will hold it's value!
