what is the best bead to use for sporting clay guns and why?

Well, I have to say there is no real "best" one as it's a pretty personal thing, as in whatever works for you

some people just like a single white bead or a gold one, either one with or with out a short center post

Those 2 are probably the most popular historically

Glowing sights like the original "Raybar" introduced many years ago or the newer fiber optic ones have strong followings as well

I have used them all and have never found any of them made much difference to my scores as I don't really see the sight clearly anyway as my eyes are focused on the target.

I do "Notice" the bright fiber optic ones more but as said already haven't found them to make much difference where it counts.

If you "think" one particular type helps you than you should probably stick with it as even if it doesn't do anything in reality it would give you more confidence and that can be a big plus.

I really like the dual white beads.

I like the dual beads for a quick refernce check that I mounted the gun properly (more for trap and skeet and other gun-up games). Then they fade nicely out of focus as not to distract me from the target.

I agree Grouse Man.However,in answer to the posted question,I'd have to reccomend using a plain white Bradley target bead.I've used guns that are equipped with glowing red and green fibre optic sights but they are a distraction to me.I find it difficult to concentrate on the target when there's a big red light out there in front of me.Dave

Bead sights

Shotgun shooting is about body position, pointing the shotgun and follow through on the target. Stick with the white bead as you don't need a distracting glow on the front of the barrel.

Easy answear- to satisfy yourself spend the $30.00 and try one. If it works for you and improves your scores great if not off to the exchange forum. Better still try a friends gun or try out a gun some accomodating fella brings to the club.

i agree with white bead, tried it today...no distractions what so ever...shot my best round of sporting with this setup----finally got confidence in the gun....now i can work on picking up the target's faster---instead of fiddling around with gun-setup.....thanks..............

Beads

Do not look at the bead - worry about mounting correctly and swinging smoothly. If you know that the bead is there, you are not shooting as well as you could. Personally, I black out my front bead and mid bead with a felt pen with very good results
