What is the Difference Between RCBS 18806 JKT and RCBS 18805 RN 44-40 Dies?

What is the difference between RCBS 18806 JKT dies and RCBS 18805 RN 44-40 dies.I understand the 18806 is made for jacketed bullets,but would it make any difference to load lead bullets in the 18806 or JKT bullets in the 18805?Why two different dies?

Neither of these dies are cowboy 44-40 RCBS dies ,18851.Suppose to be the 18851 44-40 cowboy dies are made to load cast bullets.:)

Been thinking of getting a 44-40 and would be using JKT bullets.So wondering if there would be any real difference in the RCBS 18805 and 18806 dies?It seems the 18805 dies are easier to find?:)
 
The 2019 RCBS catalogue shows a couple of notes for the 18805 and 18806 sets

18805: Regular Seater Die for all lead and jacketed bullets from Hornady, Sierra and Speer
18806: Jacketed Seater Die for Remington bullets only
 
Interesting Paul T.Thanks for that information.I wonder what was so different with the Remington 44 40 bullets ,that they would need a different seater die from any other 44-40 lead or jacketed bullet?Seems odd that there would be that much of a difference.
 
The different bullets have different ogive & probably nose shape as well so seating pressure is applied differently by different seating plugs. Sometime it will cause nose deformation or put pressure rings in the ogive of the bullet. Usually just a cosmetic blemish that wont affect accuracy at all. I use a proper seating die shape if available...if not I use what I have with no concern for final product.
 
Found an RCBS 2013 catalogue and it says the same as the 2019 RCBS catalogue of Paul T's.18805 for use with all lead and jacketed bullets from Hornady,Speer and Sierra .18806 for use with Remington jacketed bullets only.

Now the interesting part.Sent an e mail to RCBS and their reply states,for jacketed bullets you would want to order 18806.The 18805 is for use more with lead bullets.Bit different than what it says in their catalogues of 2013 and 2019.I wonder which is right?
 
Well just had another e mail from RCBS.I had sent the information about what was said about the 44-40 dies in the 2013 and 2019 RCBS catalogues.They said they would check into it and get back to me.
 
Okay the final word from RCBS.The 18806 dies are for .426 dia bullets,Remington,Winchester ,cast etc.The 18805 dies are for anything larger than .426 dia.,Speer,Hornady,Nosler,Sierra, cast,etc.:)
