I've seen some Leupold scopes for sale that have VXII and others VX2. I assume the VX2 is a newer version, but what are the differences?

I've heard of VXII and Vari X II. Vari X II is the older scope with a friction adjustment dial, and not 1/4 moa clicks. I believe from reading some posts, the coating of the Vari X II is inferior to today's VXII. Maybe I'm not answering your question right, because I'm not sure what a VX2 is.

My mistake. It appears that different people type it differently yet they are the same. I wonder why the VX-3 and VX-7 don't use Roman numerals. There is also the FX-II and FX-2.

When Leupold improved the VX III a couple of years ago they designated the replacement model VX 3 (if it says VX III it is the old model or Vari X III even older). The VX 7 was a completely new model a couple of years ago and represents their top of the line model. The FX 3 is a fixed power variant of the VX 3 line, FX II is a fixed power variant of VX II line. I am unaware of the existance of the VX 2 or FX 2 but I would believe these designations would be for newer models when they are produced. Phil.
