What is the fastest air pistol in Canada?

Speaking of air pistols ; are there any restrictions on air pistols that operate at under 500 fps in regards to where you can carry and use them . They look very similar to a real pistol ;so could the cops claim that they were a replica firearm ?

Legal to shoot where ever you can legally discharge airguns and non restricted firearms. Follow local laws and regulations as they can vary from place to place. As for carrying... I own several very good airgun clones of real guns. If I were to give you one piece of advice.... Don't carry. Your asking to be arrested, harassed, or worse shot! You might get away with it in the bush but be prepared to be nervously dealt with by authorities. The people you encounter will surely think your packing a handgun and will call 911.

Thanks ; I was thinking the same thing as well . I was just wondering if it is illegal to leave , or carry, an air pistol in the car as I seem to recall special sections of the firearms act ,or the CCC , that specifically mentions Replica Firearms having restrictions....I wonder what the difference is between a Replica Firearm , and a Air Pistol which looks exactly like a 1911 , in the eyes of the law....

I actually think that you may be breaking local hunting regs (depending on where you live) if you hunt with a handgun pellet gun. Even though the stupid thing is only a low-powered pellet gun, I think the "handgun" loophole may actually ##### us on this one.

here is what i posted somewhere else on the intraweb:

if the antis needed that to be against the hunters lol ...

is it legal? yes: so why bother.

we are our worst enemy, seems forget most of our local hunters are against elephant hunting or lion just per say ....

I know here in BC it's illegal to hunt anything with an airgun, which is daft because a good air rifle firing a .22 or .25 pellet at 1000 fps can handle grouse or even turkey at reasonable range.

Fortunately here in AB it is legal to hunt small game with an air rifle or air pistol [under 500fps] so it isn't restricted...........grouse/ rabbits and the like..........the pump up pistols get old real fast when used for hunting or extensive plinking. The HW40 is made way better made than the Chinese copy

Yeah that's 100% incorrect. Completely legal to hunt with an air rifle.

I totally agree, I own both. Better metal, the plastic has less sharp edges, among many other things. But side by side, dollar for dollar, I would pick the P17 over the HW40 if I had to make the choice.
