Definitely wrong forum. Your question is ridiculously vague, however. There are only two things that you cannot do to a Non-Restricted Centerfire Semiautomatic rifle in Canada; shortening be barrel below 18" and modifying the magazine to hold more than 5 rounds. That's it.

Moved this thread to red Rifles.
Magazine capacity and barrel length, as mentionned. And, of course, you can't diddle the trigger mechansim for faster fire.

18 to 18.5 would produce a rifle that would have to be registered as restricted. Shorter than 18, and its prohibited. Unless a new, short barrel was made and fitted, then it could be registered as restricted.

You are talking Prohibited . I'm talking restricted
Below 18.5 = Restricted

I am well aware of barrel length laws. That does not change the fact that you can still legally cut it to 18.0". It is, however, 100% unequivocally illegal to cut it past that. There are no provisions allowing you to cut any barrel to less than 17.992" or 457mm.

Also, the firearm must have an OAL above 26". It cannot be altered to be shorter without crossing into Prohib-land.
