What is the most unique rifle you ever had?

It shoots almost as well with the Lyman receiver sight, as most rifles do with a scope.

River Rat also has a 358 Norma on a Springfield that he built in 1973, and has shot literally tons of game with his.

Good shooting guy. On mine as pictured, I have a Leupold 3x9, VARI-X II. With the factory ammo I lucked into I shot a few targets, the initial one I posted, and used it on a quick trip to the B.C. central interior. Sustained an injury in a fall so I didn't get the chance to let it 'bark' at a Moose this year. Trying out more of the factory ammo, some load testing and another Moose trip are on the agenda for next season.

I can easily acquaint with that. My old Husqvarna 30-06 had a Lyman 48 and the best blade front sight for a peep that I have ever seen on a rifle. For an all around hunting rifle, including mountain hunting where ease of carrying is an issue, I preferred that to later, when I scoped it.

I know what you mean. Back 'a ways' starting out, funds were a little scarce and a scope was an expense that could be lived without. Gradually, on a rifle or two, I found a scope was needed or certainly a help. I noticed a point in time when the open sights weren't quite as crisp and sharp as they used to be and I wrote that off as a result of the country going metric. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Suddenly, there were a number of rifles that 'needed' scopes. A benefit I find in load testing and paper punching. I have a few I enjoy shooting with nothing but open sights. A jungle Carbine, 44-40 Marlin and 348 WCF for example. Then there's a few that are equiped with scopes and open sights, some of which have Weaver Pivot mounts to allow quick access to the open sights, if so needed. Also, a few built for scopes only and having no open sights.
