What is the standard target group size or scoring to be judged by for handguns?

For example, rifles is basically 1moa or less. Or f-class is based on a total score with an X count involved. Or same as bench rest 22... total score, how many X's.

What are some competitions for handguns? What targets are used? How are they judged? Free hand, rest, etc.
Is there an "MOA" standard for handguns?
 
Here's something new for you to try. Take a one-pound coffee can and spray paint the bottom black. Set the can on its side downrange about chest height with the bottom facing you. Now take your favorite revolver or pistol in one hand, standing up with no rest, and shoot 10 rounds at the bottom of the coffee can. If you need to, take 10 minutes. By the way, set the coffee can 50 yards away.
NRA bullseye at 50 yds the accuracy standard for pistols is -2” 10 shot group, the x ring is 1.7” the 10 ring is 3.3”. Very few off the shelf handguns are capable of this!
There are 3 legs to a match slow fire 10 minutes for 10 shots at 50yds. Time fire 20 seconds for 5 shots at 25 yds. Rapid fire 10 seconds for 5 shots 25 yds. There are 3 guns used in a match .22 cal, .32 cal centre fire or larger and .45 cal. In a full 2700 match 90 shots are fired from each gun (30 shots on each leg)
It is a challenging competition to become good at, sadly there seems to be fewer competitors and matches every year.

You assume incorrectly about rifles, I believe - 50 meter Olympic Free Rifle Small bore - no scope - target is a 4. something inch bull at 50 meters The 10 ring is about .380" on the facsimile targets I have. Much, much less than 1 MOA for competitive rifles and shooters. The "X" ring (not used at Olympics) is 0.200"-ish - for a .22 Long Rifle cartridge. Review World's and Olympics for the number of "perfect" scopes per competition, or the score value difference between winner and Number 15 or 20 in the rankings...
 
To me, given my eyes (cataracts) a good group would fit in a 25 yard black. I shoot 2-handed now.

I compare group size between several pistols and any pistol with a group that would fit in the black is a good one, to me.

Our club has the target frames at 25 yards.

^ that 7.62 conversion shoots well. Shooter gets most of the credit no doubt. Wish someone would make a factory 1911 in 7.62.
 
Depends on the discipline, situation, and shooter ability. Tiny groups at distance on paper might be the norm for Olympic shooting events. That same performance is worthless for IPSC, IDPA, 3 gun or mil/le context if there's no speed involved. Strive for consistency then work on group size and distance.
