The FR7 is on a 93 action and the FR8 on a 98 action if I remember correctly.......Harold

$350 and up. The FR8 is the more desirable of the two, the FR7 is the small ring made up on a 1916 two lug action.

Remember these were designed for the 7.62 CETME round, not the 7.62 NATO round. Read up on the history of the CETME rifle, you can get the details there.

i prefer the FR7. from a SN survey i saw on another forum, it appears that there are 10X more FR8's than FR7's (40000 compared to less than 4000).
