What is this thing that came with my Carlson choke tube, and what is it for?

It's a choke wrench..to tighten or loosen the choke when inserted in the barrel.

I've tried using it as a choke wrench in every orientation I can and it doesn't work as such. Any other ideas?

There should be 2 slots cut in the choke tube that that tool will fit into and then you turn it to tighten or loosen the choke tube.

The curved part fits into the choke tube notches-works for any gauge and choke tube with 2 opposing notches.

This choke wrench will work for flush tubes, extended tubes the wrench not required.

Thanks for the posts everyone. I'm thinking my choke wrench must have been built out of spec, as it's too thick to fit any of the chokes I have, or even the one from the same package as the "wrench".
