What is this choke?

I bought this recently with a Remington 11-87. I looked it up to see what it was. All I could find that it is a dayson choke. That is all the info. Now my question is: what is it for? It screws in nicely into 11-87 and 870 but it seems too long and won't bottom out on the ridge. Markings are XF M12 690-2A. Anyone can help? Here is the picture.

.690 sounds like the aperture diameter, which would make it Xtrafull, assuming a nominal bore of .729. The "XF" on the side appears to confirm this.

Well, a quick Google would suggest it is for a Browning Invector/Winchester/Mossberg.

Interesting but... Aren't they different thread type? I will try it in another gun to see if it fits in something. I read that they were supposed to be really good choke.

I don't have a Remington to compare, but from another website, someone had the exact same choke and was trying to identify it. Apparently the threads are the same, but located at a different place on the choke, so it doesn't screw all the way in and seat properly in a Remington.

I could take a picture of a Winchoke.

edit: Oops, didn't mean to quote myself, lol.

Here is a Winchester Winchoke, which will also fit Browning Invector and Mossberg apparently.

That choke is an Invector+. I based this on the amount of space between the bottom of the porting and threads. And that I own a gun with Invector+ (Plus) chokes.

The nominal bore for a 12 gauge back-bored Invector+ barrel is 742 thou, so with that 690 thou marking the constriction would be 52 thou. That's pretty tight even for Extra Full. A bore gauge would remove all doubt on the internal dimensions.

Design is similar compared to Indian Creek Turkey choke.

I have a Carlson's turkey choke designed for 20ga Benelli....that too fits nicely but won't bottom out on the ridge.

Weird, for some reason the photo in the first post doesn't show on my computer, but does when I log in on my phone. Disregard my previous comments. For sure, looks like a Invector Plus. Here is my Carlson's Invector Plus.
