Have heard many conflicting opinions.

Dot 43, all parts matching, except stock, handguard and bands. Has the correct byf contract stamped floorplate and trigger guard, as Brno contracted to Mauser at that time. Correct mid war Krieg stock, but not matching. My gut feeling is that it was a vet bring back that was duffel cut or sporterized and then put back into the correct stock, back in the day. I have had it about 30 years. I bought it simply because it was such a nice clean example of a mid war 98k. So, what say the experts on value?

Sadly I dont believe the stock is german ww2 made. This will affect value.

When dot, aka Brunn I, started making cuts, they went to semi kreigsmodell. That is correct but they went the opposite direction to this.
A correct dot SKM, will have the bolt take down washer with screwed on bands.

An SKM stock like this would be found on a gustloff, aka, bcd rifle. But i have a feeling it is post war.

Not to mention that its far too early for an SKM stock. dot ran with full configuration stocks until late 1944.

Mixed parts or not, it looks in better condition than the average recently arrived Russian capture. It has a sight hood, cleaning rod and probably capture screws. I am also betting every swastika and German eagle is still intact. The Russian capture rifles have had them punched or neutralized.

I would research prices for any Russian capture rifle and use that as a bottom value.

The stock is wrong for a DOT43 as has been noted. Value is hard to pin down as pics do not show enough detail to say if it is a refurbished WW2 rifle or an original with a new stock. Even if refurbed value is probably $650 or so.

With the RC mausers some waffenampts are peened and others left untouched. I've got an RC for sale now with amazingly clear original nazi markings.

Just wanted to clarify this point.
