What is this hole in my SIG P220 slide for?

What is this hole for? does anyone else`s have this?

I got it from a member on here 3 years ago, no idea how old but does have accessory rail.

Mine doesn't have that but it is a 9mm West German manufacture.

My X Five got the same hole in the slide so I guess it's 100% right.

Both the X-Five and the P220 pictures have an internal extractor; would that be related to it?

Yeah, turns out its normal on the milled stainless slides with internal extractor.nothing to worry about, but I dont know what its there for.

To adjust the tension on the extractor maybe? Honestly, I have no idea.

The hole is made during production of the slide to create the area where the Extractor fits in to along the Firing Pin Channel, serves no purpose after that

I am having a S/S plug made to resemble the head of the FP Retaining Pin next to it, have it pressed in before I get the Pistol Nitron Blackend ,so it will just look like it belongs there instead of an empty hole
