What is this rifle? Help

Hey I could use some help with this. I am trying to sell a few rifles and re-stock. All i know is this is a Mosin Nagant....

All of the serail numbers match. Any help would be appreciated!

What is a ballpark value of this rifle?

Russian 1943 M38 Mosin Nagant

Its an Izzy M44 Russian Mosin carbine, 1943 vintage. Shoots 7.62x54R. Also a flamethrower. Good catch if its yours. Worth about 200 to 250 bucks if its in real good shape. Izzy's aren't anything rare. I picked up one a little over a year ago for 175 bucks

M38. No bayonet as would be on an M44.

Ya, shame to do that to that carbine.

It's easy to remove any non-shellac finish on it and re-shellac it properly, it deserves it

You guys know your guns. The shellac job is a bit much. the previous owner took a couple deer with it so I assume he was trying to protect it in the bush.

200 would be a good deal, they typically swing more coin than long M/N's from what I've seen.

Personally, for a few hundred i would hang onto it for a while. The carbines are getting less plentiful by the month. They make a great bush gun and fun to shoot. has no problem knocking over a moose as well.

They did not come with a bayo.

The M-44 has a bayonet the M-38 does not .Your M-38 is wearing M-44 wood.If it had it's original furinture I would say it was worth $300.00+or- depending on the factory.As it sits It is worth what someone will pay you.

Haggling means folks think your rifle is interesting enough to talk about. Such things during deals is considered a complement in most other parts of the world.

BTW IIRC it would have been sighted in without a bayonet.
Wearing a bayonet will change its point of impact...barrel harmonics and such.

Neat rifle IMHO.
