What is this type of sight?

I picked up this ranger a few weeks back and I am wondering what type of sight is on it. It flips up and allows different ranges I think. I am really curious as I have never seen this before.

It looks original as the pittina is the same on the sight as the gun.

Its an old Mossberg singleshot, I think model 27, can`t remember and too lazzy to look in my refernce guide, but a friend had one, but without the target Mossberg front sight! nice little gun! Dale Z!
 
Thanks guys for the help. I haven't got to fire it with the sights but I would like too. BTW, Does anyone know where I could find a bolt for it?

Since you guys like the wood so much I will get some pics of it in the natural light tomorrow.

I have the same rifle {cooey model 75} also with no bolt {wonder if there hanging out together?:D}. Be careful to try the new bolt once you find one,they aren't all the same and may require a smith to properly "fit" it to your rifle:mad:.....after the expense of the bolt and fitting you'll be over what the rifle is worth:puke:
