What is this used for? - another one of those threads...

I received this is a pile of stuff from a guy getting out of gunsmithing practice. I believe it might be a staking tool of some sort, but no idea what it is actually used for. No sign of mushrooming, as to be expected on a "punch". Anyone know what it is called / what it is used for??

Tool for riveting a M1911 front sight to the slide. The tail on the front sight passes through the little rectangular hole in the slide, and this tool is used to upset it, locking the sight in place.
