Just wondering what your highest round count is on a semi.

I am in the market for a reliable and robust pistol. I live 2 hours from my range, so I only manage to make it up once or twice a month, so to make the trip worthwhile I am planning to do a lot of shooting. On top of that, the odd 3 gun match. I am ok with replacing worn parts every now and then, but do not want any catastrophic part failures.

So if you have any suggestions on a good pistol let me know.

hundreds of thousands through several of my 1911s (Colts and STIs). minor parts wear and break (most frequent is the slide stop and extractor), but they keep on chugging along: reliable and accurate.

My OD green G17 have +- 10K rounds throu it and it show no sign of wear so far. No failure to report either.

That is a lot of shooting. I wish I had the time and $$$ for that. I'm lucky to get out a couple times a year and put a couple thousand total rounds thru a mix of 10 or 20.

You must be one hell of a shot.

Op Im thinking Still Alive has a pretty strong list there for you. My list would be similar order in accordance with price point/parts availability.

1911 has parts for days though so it might be tied for first.

A 2nd gen G22 .40 cal over 35K rounds thru it.

I have worked on SIG P226R with rounds well over the 100K mark. Some were so high that the barrels had no rifling left at all.

15k+ rounds on both my P226 and M&P... nothing to declare other than changing a spring here and there...

Of all the guns I've owned and or shot over the last 30 years, the only one that has never failed in any way or form is my Gen 2 G19. It has seen about the magic 10000 rds over 25 years. Only thing I changed out was the factory plastic guide rod.
The 1911 was my childhood fantasy gun. I swear I could field strip one blindfolded if I had one at the age of 10. But now, having owned, shot and cleaned many of them, they have fallen from favor as my fave. Too many FTE, failure to go into battery, FTF to make them my go to gun.

WE run lots of gun son our range, and in general most will go 20,000rds without too much problem. The ones that are the most troublesome are the Beretta 92s. They have many more small parts failures than any other gun that we have tried. I would also point out that from the failure perspective Glocks are no better than most other pistols, other than the company is very good at replacing destroyed frames and slides.

Beretta 92's really? That's interesting, is it the locking blocks or other parts? I have a 92FS I bought used, serial number I ran says it was made in 1992. The gun looks to have a decent number of rounds thru it but it's in great shape, and I myself have put over 1200 rounds thru it since I bought it like 6 months ago. Super smooth pistol with no malfunctions, what kind of round count are you getting the issues at?

A friend of mine had a Taurus 99 that he used to rent out to customers at his shooting range. It was used for years and no doubt had 20 + thousand rounds through it with no breakages and nothing more the routine cleaning every week or so.

Geezz!! how the heck do you guys shoot that much! also how long have you been shooting to get those numbers? The range for me is close so I can go fairly often, but shoot maybe a box at a time, I would say last year I shot 700 9mm and like 300 out of my m305 , and 1/2 a crate for my sks and 300 through my mosin and svt and one bucket-o-bullets

Ruger MK 2, over a million rounds at one rental range. Chuck Taylor ran a Glock 17 and the one in 40 over 100k each with just minor parts swaps. I'd bet cash there's a few 686/GP100's and maybe a model 10 out there that have gone 100k with target ammo.
