What is your ipsc gun of choice?

for production division i use a stock 2 9mm. for classic a usean Sti lawman in .45acp...just because. in open i use a v8 tanfoglio .38 super. i did use a .40 limited custom in standard division. Next purchase will be an Xtreme stock 2, although i still have a stock 3 special to sell to finance that future purchase.

Production i use a Sig P226 tacOps in 9mm
Standard Tanfoglio Custom Limited in 40s&w

Recently looking at getting into IPSC. These may be easy questions to answer by doing a little research but since were here:
Which class of competition generally has the most shooters?
Which class is best for a new guy (I would think production?)

and I will be interested in hearing more of the gun choices.

Oh ya, where can the most up to date list of what guns are acceptable for production class be found?

I have a Glock 17 3rd gen and am on the pre-order for an HK45 with the SA/DA set up. What class would this gun be in?

Of what i have seen Production and Standard have the most people but i guess it depends on where you are.
Production is probably the best place to start, once you have a better idea of what you want to do then you can move to another class.

production list:
http://www.ipsc.org/rules/proddiv.php

both the Glock17 and HK45 are production.

I mainly shoot Classic now......but here is a checklist of mine and the wife's (she is in Classic division now as well as the 1911 suits smaller hands)

Classic (1911 Single Stack)
Main: Custom 9 1911 (STI Frame/Slide, SV rest)
Backup: Heavily customized STI Trojan

same here except barrel is schuemann AET gain twist (24') and i do like some EGW parts over SV (sear and hammer for example, for the rolly feel rather than the click)

G34 puts you in Standard, which if you have modified the hell out of the gun, is fine, but if it's bone stock it's hurting your game.

If he's just getting into competitive shooting, it ain't hurting his game.

I'm just getting into competitive shooting and my gun is the Glock 34 gen 4. What is your gun and why?

Tanfoglio Stock II I was switching anyway so I went with the best production gun available circa 2011. Maurice can run his gun awesome I can run mine mediocre. JP can run circles around us with a trick CZ Shadow SP01.

Its not the gun its the shooter.

the people that know me personaly know ive tried them all (lol)
for production depending on your budget i would suggest the cz shadow canadian edition or the tanfoglio stock 2

I don't shoot IPSC. I am looking into getting an HKP30L, how are they at this?

They're good. I used one for a while but ended up going back to my USP Custom Sport (my IPSC gun of choice).

The trigger pull is going to be heavier than some of the other production guns out there, but if this is what is comfortable for you to shoot then use it.

Okay, I'm no Production division expert. Why Tanfoglio stock II instead of stock III? I would have thought any designated version 3 should be better than version 2, otherwise why bother coming out with a 3?

third version to come out? anyways stock II is a higher end version than the stock III

The Stock 3 came with the improved trigger a rail (I think), and is lighter than the 2. People seem to prefer the weight of the 2 over the extra features of the 3, especially since you can put the 3's trigger in the 2.

stock 3 is longer...so it does absorb recoil/muzzle rise well...longer sight radius...but no bull barrel. The stovk 3 special has a thicker coating and Matt and i think it is heavier than the regular stock 3. I just sold my s3 special reluctantly....need funds for a new .22 pistol and .223 varmint rifle. I still have my stock2....i prefer it and i am getting the Xtreme stock2 when it comes out. i was very close to using my stock3 at the nationals this year....very accurate but my mag changes were off....the way the gun balances is different.
