What is Your Thoughts On The Superchrony?

Had a Superchrono for a bit.
Seemed like the answer to the chronoghraph woes most people experience but in the end it proved less reliable and repeatable than what I was using previously
We set it up in series with a couple other chronographs and its #'s were always higher or lower than the other units used. The two conventional chronographs were very similar with their information. The Superchrono could be tweaked to give numbers inline with the others but that defeats the purpose.
The problen lies in how finicky it is to set up. If it is not dead parallel to the bullets path (ie tipped up or down) the numbers will be flawed. Not just a little bit but significantly (100fps+).

I really wanted to like the Superchrono but in the end it created more questions than it answered. YMMV.

interesting Marcroman! Thanks for the input!

I have only used it once so far, and it gave velocities within 10 fps of my old Chrony. That translates to less than 0.5% difference between the two.

aligning the sights on the unit are straight forward. I guess When I get the chance to stretch the velocity information out past 1000 yards, it will start to show up if there are any problems with accuracy.

when it comes down to it, I suppose that if the "Chrony's" are not parallel to the bullets path, they would also produce somewhat erroneous information. Like any precision instrument, the setup is everything.

dthunter, I sincerily hope you have great results with your Superchrono.

If you can develop a repeatable routine for setting it up then I'm sure you will get trustworthy data from it. I had considered fabricating a mounting plate for it that would aid me in setting it up consistently each time I used it. Decided I would eventually get a Labradar and sold it before doing so.

I would be interested to hear your ongoing impressions of it after some prolonged use.

Cheers!
