What kind of 12ga is this?

What is this? it is the same size as a 2 3/4 12ga shell.

So it has pellets in it? Mystery size? Or flare or bear banger.... I have 2 if them... They were mystery shells in a larger lot.

You should be able to tell if there is shot by the weight.

Rainel Activ more info in the link https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=...tivhulls.htm&usg=AOvVaw0xCeslG4sBZ5nRlZWs5k8g. that particular shell I am not sure what it would contain as I have never seen one with a rolled crimp and a cover card . as above could be a slug or perhaps a dog training poper . shot lots of them loaded with number 4 and 5 lead for waterfowl ( when lead was legal ) but all had a traditional 8 point crimp .

So, it could be an ACTIV case with a load of something other than pellets.

Active hulls were sold for reloading and they roll crimp well. Could be a reload.

Hold it up to a bright light you just might be able to see if it is or isn't a slug or buck shot . I don't think they came in any thing other than water foul or sporting clay shot sizes . The shell casing were prone to splitting ( primer pocket to the rim ) I have an example that has a reinforcing ring around the extractor rim in a stop gap measure to rectify the splitting .

I have some and they were all printed with load and shot size when factory loaded, and had a star crimp. I bet yours is a handload, and could contain anything. As mentioned previously, hold it up to a bright light so see what's inside.
