Made a pretty awesome trade today, it was more of a gift really. Traded a rifle base for these + 300 pistol bullets, I know their 7.62 battle packs but I am unsure of where from? I have seen them on here before but don't remember the info, So are they south African? American? middle eastern? I havnt opened one up yet otherwise I would be able to tell, but I'd like to keep em sealed for the time being.

I haven't a clue, but that is way too cool!
If I'm not mistaken, it looks like they even have pull-tabs!
You be needin' to save those babies. Far too slick for range plinking. Well, except for one. You gotta open one of them and blaze away. Besides, it's an odd number right now. After all, nature loves balance...

They look like Canadian issue 7,62 mm NATO battle packs, that used to be issued with the FN. Haven't seen them in ages. Should be some external markings to indicate ammo and lot.

I have something similar. Opened one up and almost every cartridge was green. It ended up to be a '63 vintage NATO stamped DA. (Dominion Arsenal,Quebec). If you take one out go to http://www.cartridgecollectors.org/ Scroll to bottom, hit reference, hit headstamp codes, click on the first letter that appears on the cartridge and it will take you to the exact factory worldwide. p.s. all are on stripper clips that were in great condition.

look alot like CDN issues 7.62 nato for FN C1A1
some one cut off the ties that would make them bandoliers
they were issued that way to us in 1980 s
if its DA 1960s make its good ammo

Shoot them. Keep a 5 pouch pack if it makes you feel good.

They really aren't all that special, except that they are BOXER primed and the brass used in them is excellent for reloading.

Some of that stuff was very accurate. Some of it was only worth the value of its components.

I'm not sure what you mean by a rifle base though???? Do you mean a scope base for a rifle??? Whatever, good trade and likely very decent ammo.

"...what the heck are battle packs????...carry into battle draped on shoulders..." Ammo on stripper clips. And yep.
"...DA 1960s make it good ammo..." Very good ammo. Far better than the ammo made by IVI on exactly the same machines and by the same people.
"...look alot like CDN issue..." Yep. I don't think anybody else in NATO used the rubber ones.

Sorry I meant a scope base, worth about 20$, so I broke in a peeled one open, ammo looks nice, stripper clips look even nicer, ammo is mark DA 60 with the NATO cross, so I guess I did alright
