What kind of bipod do I need?

Starting to shoot 50m and 100m with my CZ 22lr Lux and Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 4.5-14x44 scope, I need to be steadier than using the odds and ends of supports at our ranges. What should I look for in a bipod? And should that always be combined with a rear bag?

Depends how deep your pockets are. There are bipods that are lighter than others, thus cost more. Also there are ones that pivot left and right for gtound that isnt flat. However it sounds like youll only be shooting at the range. So flat and no carring.
IMO ebay/amazon for a deal.

If you are serious about groups, then you want a bag system not a bipod. The only thing that a bipod has on bags is mobility... but if you are bench shooting then mobility is not an issue. As far as bipods go, look at Harris pivot models contrary to what you have heard (above) the pivot is for panning right and left, for uneven ground the legs telescope. There are cheaper models around but since you are shooting a Lux & Legend, I would spend the money for a Harris... leave the eBay models for the other guys...

Hoyt what do you think about the bipod mystic sells/makes? Its expensive but from what I read, long distance shooters use it. I think its called F-class.
I dont know if long distance competitions you can use bags. However the OP didnt say anything about comps.

Please retract your post Hoyt!
Guess you dont know of the s class harris bipods. They cant just like I said!
Mine also pivots left and right. I can be wrong on stuff. You can too!

Canting is not pivoting... you stated that it "pivots" to accommodate uneven ground... it does not... it pivots for panning... leg extension adjusts for uneven ground... canting generally adjusts for a poor surface mount on the rifle, but can also compensate for being off level. Why would I retract my post?

So you know all about the Harris "S" but recommend eBay knock-offs??? Apparently Google isn't fast enough for you...

Fantastic, to the OP, there are harris bipods that cant and swivel.
Did I get my words right Hoyt?

Communication is all about words... if you use the wrong ones, because you really don't know what you are talking about, or perhaps you have a precarious grasp of English vocabulary, then you communicate misinformation... a regular occurrence for you... try Google cut & paste... same source but at least communicated accurately.

You commented on not trolling your posts, I ask the same please.

It aint trolling when you break the rules here and I point it out. It also isn't when you give crappy advice to someone in an attempt to sell something and I also point that out.

In case you didn't read the general rules and guidelines,

15. Making offer or solicitation to purchase/trade/buy in any forums other than the Equipment Exchange forums are not allowed. Business members are excluded where the exclusions are specified in the relevant terms of use applicable to the business members

You should probably edit that post and the one you made about selling a SU-22 earlier today.

This thread has a lot of LOL.

Harris fixed bipod gets my vote for bench shooting. Yes, a rear bag helps too.

Sounds like a great set up, OP. May need to raise your cheek on a lux to get solid weld.

My recommendation would be either;

1) Harris Bipod (Type "S") with a rear bag (I use a Protektor and love it), or;

2) A pedestal type front rest with a rear bag. This is obviously a more expensive option, but if you are after tight groups and mostly shooting at the range, it is a sound investment.

I have both options, so feel free to pm me for pics or with any questions.
