I have a Sig M400 Enhanced, 5.56, with a Bushnell 3-12x40 AR/223 scope.

I am shooting from a bench using a bipod.

Assuming the guy behind the scope can shoot properly I am wondering what kind of groups I should expect out of this setup at 100 yds?

Thanks

Depends on lots of things. Wind speed and direction, ammunition used, and your skill

Yesterday at the range it was zero wind, I was using surplus Norinco ammo and I shot a 2.75" group at 100 yds ... just wondering if that is about as good as it's going to get or if I can narrow that down a bit?

I will also be trying some decent ammo, prob Federal since it is available here, but yesterday was the fist day on the scope ...

With norinco thats good. With decent US made or European ammo I think you should be able to get to 1.5"

I'm sure you can easily half that with good ammo or handloads. Were you resting the handguard on a rest or bipod? If so, switching to a free-float handguard will tighten that up some more. My buddy has the same rifle and I noticed that it was easy to shift the POI by the amount of pressure that you impart on the rifle while on a rest under the handguard.

^ Like they said, get 1 box of match ammo to find out the potential. Even better try a few different brands/types. Try 69 gr.
Are you 1:7 twist?
