In many of the pics I notice SR shooters using notebooks.

What type of info do you find valuable to record after your shots are fired?

Why?

Date and time.
Range and event.
Rifle number and ammunition.
Light and cloudy, temperature.
Winds
Sight picture.
Sight settings.
Visual sight sketch
Score.
Who I was shooting with.
Shape of the group, shot by shot if there is time.
Critical comments about my shooting, so I can learn what to do better next time or what was particularly memorable about that match.

Do you score your own target after you shoot

If it's a sanctioned shoot, no... Someone else should be scoring them.

With regards to your question about what shooters are putting in their books, I don't know if they're still in circulation, but a few years back the CF did have some Service Rifle "range" cards (that went into the small three ring binders) in the system. If I can find some in my old pile of stuff, I'll post some pics...

Found them... As you can see, the last time I seriously used this stuff was back in '94...

Hope this helps.

During the deliberates, I always record my string (scores). Then I ensure that I monitor the total scores or aggregates for the 200m matches, 300m matches and 500m matches. That way I can ensure that the scoreboard and my records have no disagreements or nasty surprises (in the way of omissions).

We have a great time on 23-24 Jun weekend. Great people, great matches, fabulous food. Life is good.

Wow HSLD, those look super handy! Where would a guy get some of those

The blank ones in the pics are laminated. I've got a whole book of "used" ones - with writing and drawing on them, so unfortunately those would be of no use to you. Don't know if they're still available in the CF supply system, but that's probably your best bet.

Hey, back at CFSAC 2002, some members for Storm Mountain School or was it Blackwater?..... met some Hooters girls in Ottawa and invited them out to Charlie Range Connaught for the afternoon sniper matches 61-65.

A protest was put in by a 'uniformed' sniper team (I won't mention names) and that protest ruined all the lighthearted fun. Bummer.

They sure were cute, though....

When I took part in a recent open house event at General Vokes range at CFB Chilliwack, BC, someone gave me a small target score sheet that he works from.
On it was an internet addy of .bluebarnacle.com , but that site is no good now.
Does anyone know where I can download similar scoresheet targets?

NavyShooter,
Thanks, thats great info there! Good stuff, thanks for sharing.

This is the scoresheet I was given.

Wow NavyShooter, I just had a good look over your shooting book and aide-memoire, and I must say that's the bomb!

Totally useful information, and the whole package describes the 12 matches very well for the uninitiated like me.

Thanks man!
