What kind of powder?

I load both my 55 gr .223 for my AR and the 150gr .308 for my Norc M305 with Win748. Burns clean and supposedly not too hot in order to prolong the life of the barrel. Meters fantastic through my Dillon and never had any difficulties adjusting how much powder to throw with it.

You have to determine what grain of bullets you are going to use, that will determine what powders. Twist was determine what your .223 will use: 1:12 is 55 grain or less, 1:10 likely up to 69 grain bullets, faster than 1:10 up to 80 grains. From there you can pick a powder for .223 and then see if it works in .308. IMHO

CFE-223 works great in 308. Uniform velocities, great accuracy, and metering so fine I strayed away from the chargemaster and used the Harrell's powder measure. If anyone has 6.5 X 47L data for CFE-223 please share.

I use IMR 4064 because I like that it has two 4s in the name.
Plus I was intentionally looking for a powder for both and it seemed to pop up the most times in the loading data and on the lists of what the stores had in stock at the time.

It goes bang when it's supposed to and puts holes where I point.

I use IMR for both. My Tikka T3 LITE in .223 with 22.2 grs of 4064, and a 75 GR AMAX shoots dime sized groups. Not the fastest load out there, but for me accuracy is worth more than speed.
