What kind of rifle is this?

Posting this for a friend, he has a 303 british. he is wondering if someone knew from this pic what model it is

I'm guessing it's a No 4 Parker Hale conversion to a Sporter. Looks very similar to one I had for a deer rifle as a teenager. It was a great deer rifle until the two groove rifling gave out. I'm no enfield expert so if I'm wrong I'm sure some of the Enfield guru's will be along shortly. I'm surprised it dosn't have the shortened 5 round mag though.

Seriously though, are there any markings on the band around the stock?

A good person here to ask would be Woodchopper (he's an Enfield geek like no other).

Looks to be one of the higher grade Parker Hale conversions of a No. 4 rifle. Stock set made by Sile in Italy. The information on the butt socket will tell where and when it was originally made.

Nice conversion TB, I knew it was just a matter of time before you saw the light and got yourself a nice 303.........
PS, don't try and make it into a 338 Fudd, you'll ruin it.
