I've been thinking of putting a scope on my t97 with the ftu. What scope would you guys recommend? Around $ 200 -$300 and something that I could swap over to my ar if I wanted to. Also what kind of mount would be best.
When I added my FTU I went with a bushnell trs-25. Then I decided to try a scope on it. I had a hi-lux cmr 1-4x with red illuminated donut reticle in a Burris pepr mount. I wanted to keep the height over bore to a minimum so I bought a set of low rings to mount it on the FTU. Here's a pic
It worked great!! BUT the whole reason I like the T97 is that it is a reasonably light weight very compact fast handling rifle. I felt the scope added a lot of weight. It also made it feel bulky and awkward. It just seemed like it cancelled out the T97's good qualities. Just my opinion. I've since removed it and gone back to the trs-25.
If you want to move from AR to T97 easily then I'd suggest the Burris pepr mount with QD levers. It's around $100. It will however increase your height over bore unnecessarily.
The hi-lux scope is around $400 I think.
I picked mine up scope and mount for $400 LNIB off the EE. There are cheaper options for scopes. The bushnell AR optic 1-4 is around $300-$350. Think the millet 1-4 is around $200ish.
Don't think there's a cheap QD mount that would match up with the pepr
