Saw a scope with a post and one horizontal line reticle, on the objective bell it said "Duoscope - coated lenses", had click adjustments similar to older weavers and similar style turrets. It was a variable (2.5-8 I think). I couldn't find any other markings on it. Anybody have any ideas what kind of scope this could be? I'm thinking some kind of European scope......

Thanks,
rob

You may well be right in guessing it is a European scope. That post-and-crosshair reticle is sometimes called a European or German reticle because it was once very common on European scopes, and the Germans were leaders in scope-making in Europe. But they have been used in scopes made elsewhere - Weaver in its heyday offered that type of reticle in many of its U.S.-made scopes.

"Duoscope" might be an obscure brand or a model name or a name that the maker coined for a feature of their scopes, like some Bushnell's having "Rainguard". I don't recognise it, but many here have been around a lot longer with a lot wider experience of sporting arms, so hopefully someone will have the answer for you.

Duoscope could also be an importer name given to a particular scope brought in from out of country. A good example being a Tradewinds scope, also rarely seen. I was looking at one once but couldn't find the actual manufacturer, only the import name Tradewinds, so I ended up passing on it - kind of wish I hadn't now that I look back as it was a pretty nice scope for the $$$.

I looked at it again and the caps over the windage and elevation turrets are plastic which doesn't say "quality" to me.
