What kind of shotguns do the po-lice carry?

Just out of sheer curiosity...
I suppose it's different location to location but from what you know of most commonly. I hear more about Mossbergs but I was always under the assumption that Remington held a huge chunk of the market...other competitors?

All of my clients have 870's, but 1 of them also has a Winchester 1300 as a backup.

The police in Winnipeg have Mossberg 590s in their cruisers, But I saw a top folding 870 20" with rifle sights and wood pump in the paper the other day carried by a woman officer, looked like the Deerstalker version.

Poilice Shotguns

.... RCMP ..... Remington 870.... mostly the "Wingmaster"version with a short barrel and "rifle sights" . Some with the top folding stock, others with the standard, impressed checkering, wood stocks. 'Magazine plugs removed of course! Usually loaded with SSG or 00 Buck ..... David K. .....

AFAIK, EPS uses the 870.

Peel has dropped there shotguns in the car in favour of a Ruger rifle. Can't remember what cal right now. The uppers that be thoughta rifle would be safer than a shotgun. Shotguns are big load and scary you know.

That'll be a Mini 14 in .223. I believe the OPP in Ontario have a choice between a Mini 14 and an 870 as their cruiser carried long gun. Of the police I spoke with, most would rather have the Mini 14, but I must admit, my sampling size was pretty small.
