Several years ago, I was in Italy and stayed in a relative's house in the countryside just outside Rome. I met a friend of theirs who happened to be a hunter, and liked to hunt wild boar. He then showed me his shotgun, (an over/under Beretta - there's a surprise...
) and one of his boar-loads that I've never seen anywhere else.
It was a rifled slug, but instead of a conical shape it was a hollow lead tube with the rifling on the INSIDE of the tube. It reminded me of some 12 gauge cookie-cutter. Has anyone ever seen or heard of anything like this? He said this load was accurate and deadly on wild pigs, but I've never seen anything like it anywhere else.
