Just picked up my first lever gun over the weekend and LOVING IT. It’s a Henry Frontier octagon 20”barrel, Chambered in 22wmr. Lots of fun to shoot and almost as fun just to look at lol.

My question lies as what are you guys using as a lock when transporting to the range and such? At home I not to concerned as it in a safe. But keep everything trigger locked in addition and when transporting. Obviously that don’t work with a lever gun.

Put a cable lock around the lever for my first range trip but don’t want to do that all time and possibly mare the Purdy wood.

Only or other thought I had was to go to using a locking gun case for its transportation

Doesn't need it by law but a cable lock around grip and through the lever loop is the norm I've seen. Enjoy your new shooter!

That is a real nice one there.

Like REM700J says it isn't required to be locked for transportation but if you choose to, cable lock or locking case are the only practical ways I know of.

You could get some vinyl hose to cover the 'plastic coating' on the cable - the ones I have are pretty 'hard plastic'. Then just be careful where the lock itself rests - or attach some fabric to 'soften' it, too. I have a 2-piece interlocking 'rack-thing' I guess intended to mount on a wall or something. It came with my Marlin 60, along with a 'Marlin' padlock to lock that 'thing'. Don't use either one ^O^, just the "New Blue Trigger locks" from A-zone.
As said, locks are not required for transport of NRs, tho I do keep the T-locks on. And locks on my ammo, tho also Not needed.

Thanks all. Guess I stick with a cable lock. I seen those lever locks but not really a lock they look like those cheap shipping “lock” that just have a screw no?

And I know it’s not required by law but I was taught it’s better to go the bit extra on Saftey.

I sure wouldn’t use a cable lock stock scratch’in pos awn a good look’in shewter like that.
I yewse what is shown above.
The hingy sort.

No teers this way.

I've been using Bellock combination cable locks that I purchased from Tillsonburg Gun Shop. The combinations are set by the owner and have a plastic wrapped cable that can be wrapped around the tang and through the lever.
