I have a Carlson's IC and a Remington Modified choke for my 870.

I want a long range choke for those passing snows at 40 yards plus. I shoot three inch steel.

Should I get a Pattern Master, Primos Dead Zone or a Carlson's Long Range?

Have you patterned the gun at 40 yard plus ranges? Steel shoots tight patterns and I suspect your Remington mod would be more than enough for those distances but until you put pellets on paper you'll never know.

If you aren't getting the patterns you want then consider another choke tube.

I've only patterned out to 40 so far.

Contrary to what many say, the WnchesterXPerts are what come out of my gun the best. And it is 2 3/4 #2 tht pattern most consistently, better than the 3-inch, though Kent Faststeel #2 and #2 pattern pretty good too.

Federal? Hmmmmmmm. Not great.

I bought some BB shotshells for snows and had #3 shot in on Saturday expecting more ducks when a snow surprised me and it came down like a ton of bricks.

So there you go.

I use a undertaker long range waterfowl choke and xpert 2's and 3's on canada's and 40 yards is no problem. The extended length tubes really improve you patterns, Pattern Master chokes work equally well they are just more $ than the undertaker.
