What M14 Stock is this?

When I bought my new M14 it came with this stock which was said to be a USGI fiberglass stock, however it is obviously wood but not the cheap Chu Norinco one. I am looking to find out who makes it and what the material it is, now that I have a real USGI glass one I would like to sell this one and I would like to make sure I sell it as what it really is.

My friend and I both have real USGI glass stocks and a Norinco wood stock to compare it to. it actually looks very similar to the USGI glass one especially in the mag well. I have taken some pics and if you see in the butt stock the material looks like unpainted wood, and when I had the cheek weld installed the drill pulled only wood out.

I have also been doing some reading in regards to the wood stocks for M14, it looks like it could very well be a Springfield M1A stock. It seems they made wood ones with the selector filled and with out the two circles on it either, does this sound at all right?

Here are the serial codes I took out of the mag well area and some pics I took, the bottom one is the real USGI one.

they both look like usgi stocks except selector/connector filled and what appears to be some material skinned over it.
could be wrong but it does look to me like someones attempt at refinishing a usgi stock
 
I have to admit the similarities are very very close other then the fact that there is the question of the wood being present, at least in the butt stock and the USGI one seems a bit lighter..

I looks like a fake to me......Just put it in the mail and send it to me, I'll see if I can use it for a walking stick.....:rolleyes: or something..... :nest:

The foreend tip is very clearly fibreglass. The inlets inside the reciever could never be cut by a Chinese high school shop student. The stock with the moulded in checkering is USGI. The one without is probably USGI too, but either an early model or one of the exotics. All I can suggest is to go to a website like dub dub dub fredsm14stocks dot com, and read his product descriptions. Don't bother making him an offer, he despises most things that Canada stands for.
 
I am going to sell it so I would love it to be fiberglass, to me it seems there is a thin coating over a wood stock look at the last pic. Regardless it's a nice stock, I just want to look into the possibilities before a market it as something specific.

So I checked out the site you suggested and found some info that might help, here are the descriptions he had.

1) "Fiberglass-Reinforced Wood Stocks - BACK IN STOCK! - Specially-strengthened for service use, these stocks were wrapped in tape and glassed for strength. The wrapping varies somewhat. A few are wrapped only around the front swivel and the pistol grip, but the vast majority are wrapped from the front swivel back to the pistol grip. In theory, these are gonna be the strongest non-epoxied M14 wood stock. While the stocks themselves are used, and would grade out generally about Very Good, they appear to have been unissued since wrapped, and therefore are closer to EXC condition. Buttplates, as you might expect, are used condition. Never saw these stocks described anywhere. If you have more info on them, please email."

2) Glassed But Not Wrapped Wood M14 Rifle Stock - ***SORRY, OUT OF STOCK - PLEASE DO NOT ORDER - WE WILL HAVE MORE IN THE FUTURE*** Another rare variation - of a variation! A few stocks which were simply coated in a tough clear fiberglass resin finish, some like the wrapped stocks - only from the front swivel to the pistol grips - others from stem to stern. In addition, a few were then painted. Indicate your preference - painted or plain - in the comments box of the shopping cart. Gd-VG"

This is more like what I meant, but good that you found the ones above.

Rare, Synthetic, Smooth Side - Rare Early Smooth-Sided - the very first synthetic, a true piece of M14 history, NO checkering, glossy finish, slightly thicker through the pistol grip - but used. So RARE you have probably never seen one. With buttplate, naturally! While this stock is NOT as-new, because of its rarity, it deserves better than to be put in the used category. I have never seen one that has not seen considerable use. Yet these are the pick of the lot, and some of these will approach VG-Exc. Even the worse will grade Good.
 
Fab sports was selling fiberglass ones but thet may be sold out now. Watch the EE too, stuff pops up there. I've got a wood one for sale in the EE, link is in my signature...
