Have looked in all my manuals for Level ll load data for the Marlin 1895 with no luck.
Most all loads for 350 grain JFP end at 1900 ft/sec. Anything over that is recommended for stronger actions
like the Ruger #1. Garret cartridges are over the 2000 ft/sec

Do I have to take the word of those on the net?

The Lee 2nd Edition Loading Manual lists 2 Max loads for the M95 that exceed 2000 fps with a 350 gr bullet.

60 grs of ACCUR 2520 (28000 PSI) and 61 grs A-XMR-2495 (27100 PSI).

Lyman cast bullet handbook also has some pretty crazy .45-70 loads. Three categories; original, 1895, and Ruger No.1

I have used their cast bullet load data with jacketed bullets of the same weight and shape without issue. My most accurate .300 Win Mag load using 150gr jacketed SP's is actually from the Lyman cast bullet book; .308 like velocity.
