What Military Barrel is this ?

Hope this works ?.Can anyone tell me what this barrel is for ?.I've got no idea and told it's for the Browning Military BAR but I've looked at pic of the bar and it's not the same.Any help would be great !!!!.
Barrel is 23 3/4 " long.I can't read any of the marks but it's
30-06 for sure.Has ring marks from barrel turned on lathe minus the last 3 1\2 " which is smooth and first 3" at chamber end as well.Barrel is unfired.

I don't think its for a 1919A4. Neither of the 1919A4 Barrels I have nor any of the ones I’ve seen are tapered like that. On the other hand due to the head space adjustment notches, I agree it’s for a Browning type machine gun, just not the A4. If I were to make a wild ass guees, I'd wonder if it might be for some water cooled browning like a 1917 or maybe an aircraft version of the 1919?
 
Browning MMG for sure. Most likely would be the 1919A4; there were sure enough of them around for long enough that a lot got converted to 7.62 NATO. This could be a NOS tube.
 
If it's about 24" long and for sure is 30-06 cal then it's for the 1917 Browning MG. They used the light barrel and had the water jacket. They didn't use the full heavy barrel like the 1919 series. There is no barrel bearing at the frone like 1919.

Browning M2 barrel is .50 cal and about 1 meter in length. So that's not it.

1919A4 barrels in 7.62 or .30 cal are straight and heavy from one end to the other. That's not it.

BAR barrel has sights and is permanently attatched with extractor notch at the back. Also threaded for flash tube. Also has gas vent for the gas block. That's not it.

This barrel lacks the groove for the packing gland which is required on a water cooled MG so it is not M1917.
The M2 30 cal is the ac mg.
There is also the 50 M2.
 
Looks like someone turned down a 1919 barrel to use it on something else. One of the AC versions is threaded to accept a "booster adapter" on the end...

Maybe a Browning MG40 AC gun barrel???
 
Its for a British or Canadian .303 Aircraft MG....... The muzzle should be smooth and polished for about 1 3/4 inches.....You will find Canadian and/or British proofs on the chamber area........ The gun is what the yanks call and ANM2 and we called the BMGAC Mk. I* or Mk. II
 
Just looked around on the net and it is for a anm2.Theres a couple barrels listed on gb that are the same,some new made and others original mil barrels that are used.

AN -M2 .30 AIRCRAFT GUN Inglis made these also in .303 ,Hurricanes had 8 of these guns in each wing. 1200 rounds per minute per gun.

I've been know to be wrong at least once before,lol !
A live 303brit slides into chamber right the the rim and the bullet about half way into muzzle.A 30-06 slides into chamber to the start of the depressed ring and the bullet goes into bore to about 1/8" to brass.Hope that helps ?.I don't have a set of mic's to measure bore,sorry.
