What model gun is this ?

I have a Remington pump 2 3/4" and 3", 28" vent rib barrel, this is a 870 version ?
It is registered as a 870 but nowhere on the gun does it say 870
On the side of the receiver it says "Sportsman 12 Pump Magnum"
Is this just a standard 870 ?

Yep, just a cheaper version. I mean economy.

The "Sportsman" was introduced before the current "Express" version of the 870. I believe they came out in 84' - 85', well that's when I got mine anyway. The quailty is way better than any "Express". It's basically a "Wingmaster" without fancy engravings or checkering. The wood grain is quite nice on mine .

Thanks Caboose, That sounds right, I bought the gun new in the mid 80's and it does have a very nice stock.
