What mods on this Norinco M14? *new pics reply 11*

Hi,

I'm selling a gun collection and this M14 is one of the remaining rifles.

I don't know much about these. I'm more into milsurp stuff.

I think the scope is a Leapers. From what I can tell, these scopes are not considered to be very good and a cheap brand?

I think the stock is USGI, I'm not sure about the bi-pod, I think their may be some other USGI parts as well.

Can anyone tell me a little more, and, suggest what a fair and realistic asking price would be? Condition is excellent, hardly used if at all.

Definitely a GI stock, looks a GI bipod ($200) from the colour (what's printed on the part just under where it attaches to the barrel and need closeup of the feet), scope looks like a rubber coated Tasco 3x9 power, scope mount looks like a low cost alum job (any writing on the mount), what's it say on the receiver, if it's a Norc than $550-700 which it looks like cause I don't see any printing on the heel of the receiver.

The stock is USGI.

As far as mods go there isn't anything on the outside other the added scope and mount. For USGI parts you would need to do a closer inspection. The bolt appears to be unmarked so it is probably norinco. There should be some markings on the trigger group, op rod, and barrel. Seeing them would require some minor disassembly.

Not considering the scope and bipod you're probably looking at $500 for the rifle+GI stock (if it is all Norinco parts).

From what I can tell, the scope is a "Leapers" 3x40.

From searching the net, it doesn't look like the scope is too valuable.

I will take a closer look but so far most of the parts appear to be Norinco, and the bipod I think is USGI.

Take a look on the right side of the scope mount, there should be some etching on the receiver denoting the brand. Also, if you pull the trigger group out and dismount the receiver from the stock, take a pic of the spring and the spring guide under the barrel. If you want, take a close look at the flash hider. If the machining is really s**tty, its a norc FH. When I've had a chance to look at M1A and USGI FH the machining has been really well done, but mine is garbage.

That'll help you get a baseline of potential upgrades that have been done...if you're doing an all-in deal, I'd peg it at closer to $650-700. Much higher than that I doubt it would sell on the EE. You might be better off getting a factory synthetic stock from Norinco and farming out the USGI bits separately.

Take detailed pics of the parts , especially where any numbers are present. Post em here or email them to me. I can give you a honest evaluation on a value based on parts ect.
A rifle with a smattering or full dressed with usgi parts, can be worth MUCH more than a 300 to 500 norinco, regardless of it's optic or mount.

From the pics, I am gonna say your stock alone is worth at least 200.00 being that it is a MINT , original finish, with what looks like a new condition USGI buttplate. That is NOT your 75.00 to 150.00 surplus stock.

Bolt stop and rear sight have a finish that also looks to be G.I. . Receiver appears to be a norinco by the visible side markings on the right side. Bolt appears to be usgi, oprod is norinco.
Will have to see more to comment much further.

Actually, that's true. I've seen a M305 in person for sale for $4500...it is tricked out in almost every way possible mind you, but was based off of the Norinco receiver.

I've built several very high end rifles built on norinco receivers in the 4000 - 8000.00 range with mounts optics ect.

Flash hider appears to be usgi or probably springfield.
Too hard to I'd the sights without handling them.

I would say, take the rifle out and shoot a 10 shot group at 100 and if they are all inside a 5" circle... She's a keeper.
Based on your pics, and considering condition of the stock... You have a minimum 800.00 to 900.00 rifle on your hands and more if the bipod is genuine usgi (there are knockoffs) and depending on the make of the trigger.

Most G.I. Parts will have the manufacture stamp IE: TRW, H&R, SA followed by the usgi part number , winchester parts generally only have the part number.

If a part has the number electropencilled, it's most likely a chinese part.

Look on the right hand side between the receiver and the first part on the barrel(oprod guide)
If there is a number code visible, stamped into barrel, it is NOT a chinese barrel.

Would be good to get pics of the action and trigger with the stock removed.
Left side of trigger body has the I.d. markings.
A usgi trigger or barrel will add considerably to the value. (Usgi Triggers alone go for 400 to 500)

Thanks! I will list it on the EE, if there are more USGI parts that will be a bonus for the next owner but it will be priced based on what we know for sure.

I agree, the scope sucks, I'm going to include it but I think we have ruled out it having any real value.
