What muzzle brake are you using for your AI (or other high-end rifles? I’m wondering if I should go with Cadex muzzle brake. Would love to know your choice

There are a lot of good options out there.

I have a 5 port Heathen on one rifle and it seems to works well. I have an MDT on two others and they work well too.

Note that every brake is a compromise of effectiveness and how obnoxious it is depending on its geometry. The key is finding what is important to you.

Area 419.. Hellfire match self timing.
Dumped everything else…they are the only one I get and use now.

Thank you for the insights! I got a PVA jat blast ultralight for now, let’s see if that works for AT-X. Heard both hellfire and heathen are very good… i guess I will collect them if PVA go sideways …

I completely agree!! I sold all my other brakes. The Area 419 are so nice, especially their newest model the Hellfire Match. Their taper lock feature is amazing, indexes to the same spot every time. I get no point of impact shift after removing and reinstalling the brake for cleaning. I prefer the stainless steel models, since it makes clean up easier by just dumping the brake in some CLR and letting that soften up the carbon build up. If you have a nitrided version do not use CLR as it will colour change the nitriding, use something like Boretech C4 carbon remover.

As others have said the trade off is effectiveness of the brake vs how much gas you have venting rearwards. These Area 419 brakes are not pleasant to shooter beside you one the firing line.

It's all personal preference, mine happens to be the Insite Arms Heathen.

I've personally had issues with the A419 brakes getting stuck to their adapters, and they don't radius the edges of the ports so they are cheese graters on your hands. They are effective though.

I find the Heathen to be the best combination of effectiveness, concussion mitigation, quality and options.

The Heathen and the MDT Elite are my 2 preferred designs. The MDT is biased slightly more towards recoil elimination and the Heathen slightly towards reducing concussion at the shooter but both do a great job overall. I have 4-port Heathens on most of my short action rifles but use the lightweight aluminium 3-port where weight is a concern and the 5-port on my .300NM. The latest 5-port design is even an improvement over the Gen 1s although I honestly never found them to be lacking.

The MDT brakes look very effective. Awful to shoot next to though.

I've come to hate any concussion so I try to shoot everything suppressed now.

Spearhead, made in Ontario.

Lots of good brakes out there. Decide on the features you want (tool-less or not, maximum recoil reduction vs less blast, integrated tuner vs just a brake etc) and narrow it down from there.
I've been happy with the EC tuner brakes on my smaller precision rifles, but I don't know if I'm getting any noticeable benefit for the extra money other than looks compared to the Spearhead or Heathen brake + tuner. That being said the EC tuner brake does look really good on the end of a barrel.
On my big rifles I've used the MPA 4 port and gen 3 APA fat b@stard brakes so far. The gen 3 APA brakes are absolutely awesome for recoil reduction on a magnum, and on long barrels the blast isn't terrible. A couple guys at the range were shocked at how tame my 338 Lapua was with that brake (285s at 2945fps).
Lots of options, really hard to go wrong.

I use this on my Badger action in 300winmag, and I can see the bullet hitting 500meter Gong, but it very Noisy, you won't make any friend at the Range, no kick at all.
