what parts are NOT mil-spec on the current 14.5 inch Norinco CQ-M4 ?

I've had a Norc 10.5" AR for years.. thousands of rounds down range without any mechanical failures. I did put in a replacement ejector plunger and spring but that was just to improve the ejection. (I heard they were weak when I bought it.). She's not pretty but damn, she's been reliable. I don't get why people crap all over Norc AR's.

What you call "crapping on Norc" is simply stating that Norc products are not mil spec and are often not to much of any spec. There are far better quality products to be had for often not much more money. However, there never seems to be an end to the whining threads about a guy who bought a Norc and it doesn't work, is broke, won't accept aftermarket parts etc. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. The anecdotal reports of "thousands of rounds without issue..." are not the norm and are usually accrued over several years. Take a Norc to a training class/course, run 2000 plus rounds through it over 2 days then see how you like it.

Yeah, but I've had a hard time running more than 1,000 rounds of pistol on courses - assuming you're trying to hit something and learn something, of course. You must need a metric buttload of magazines and a very "focused" instructor. I might just get a Norc and give that a try, like the 2K pistol test - run it 2,000 rounds or until failure. That would be interesting, it wouldn't prove much though.

If a reputable instructor figures you need 1500-2K to get through their training plan they will not post a course requirement of 1300. They tend to travel and thus understand the issues with travel and the requirement to drop ship ammunition.

The salient point here is that the guy's wife wants to shoot an AR 15 style rifle. That's great! Let her shoot the hell out of the Norc and if she still has the interest, upgrade with a better rifle. Anything to keep a wife shooting!

My wife bought her S&W 'Sport' AR 15 as we considered it the best bang for the buck at the time. I liked it so much, I bought one! Her's wears "Muddy Girl" camo, a peel off stick on product you shrink on with a heat gun or hairdryer. Changes the character of the rifle completely.

She has threatened to do the same thing to my FDE Tavor, but that might be grounds for divorce ..... ;>)

Frig there goes another tavor, damn women are attracted to that damn rifle! That thing is turning into a chick magnet.

So far she hasn't expressed an interest in shooting it as the Tavor comes set up for a righty and she is a lefty. 'Sides, I don't think she could pull back the cocking handle.

As for the Tavor being a 'chick magnet', how 'bout those pics of IDF girls toting them? Or the girls on the Zahal site? They're enough to make a Liberal or NDP'er want one.
