first you need an rpal endorsement on your license if you don't already have one. the frame/trigger/hammer assembly is the actual firearm, the slide and barrel are not.
RPAL is for restricted firearms PAL for non restricted..

I could be wrong without looking up the statute, but I believe the lower receiver, with or without a serial number, and any parts attached is the legal firearm.

A number of firearms in Canada have the upper Reciever as the "legal firearm".
“firearm” means a barrelled weapon from which any shot, bullet or other projectile can be discharged and that is capable of causing serious bodily injury or death to a person, and includes any frame or receiver of such a barrelled weapon and anything that can be adapted for use as a firearm;
Every person commits an offence who, without lawful excuse, the proof of which lies on the person ... alters, defaces or removes a serial number on a firearm
but short barrels are considered prohibited by themselves, as I understand it. Especially when they are so easy to change out on many pistols.
Just the frame......trigger/hammer are just parts like everything else on the gun.
