So IPSC season is on the winter break now, and I have a few months where I don't need to shoot my 1911s all the time. Since my reviews seem to get a positive reception and my website statistics tell me a lot of people like to read them, I'm coming to you guys for ideas, what guns are you looking for IPSC/competition minded reviews on that you are having troubles finding? What guns are you looking at buying for next season?

I would like to read about 1911 for Classic division. Looks like everyone shooting 9 mm 1911, and I have no idea the model I need to get. Currently, I am shooting RugerSR 1911. In 45 acp with some upgrades, like rod, and magwell.

Boberg Arms would be cool. I'm not in the position to buy one right now, but it would be interesting to see more reviews so I can decide if I want to begin daydreaming about it.

Edit: Ignore this if it doesn't fit IPSC.

That's an easy one, STI Spartan V in 9mm is perfect. throw some an ambi safety on it if you want them, grips, magwell, done. Will serve you very very well for not much money.

Fun gun, but not really enough there for a in depth review since its not a useful gun for anything other than having a cool toy in Canada. My friends is very reliable, not as much recoil as you would think and man does it throw brass to the moon lol

Thanks anyways. You probably saved me some money there.

Thank you for your advice. We participated in the same qualifiers, but did not meet before. Just want to ask you opinion on may well from Teckwell. I have one on my River and still not sure if its for good. Replacement parts, like ambydex safety, - good manufacturer? Mags working well with 9 mm STI?
And one more question, is it possible to get some ipsc lessons from you?

How about the STI Marauder, it's s new double stack 9mm targeting the 3-gun market. I saw one at Phoenix range in Edmonton a while back and it looked pretty nice.

I have one of the techwell mag wells on my classic major gun and love it, makes mag changes harder to totally screw up and I like it better than the smith and alexander one on my Spartan. My only issue with the techwell is that even the super aggressive grip they sell isn't aggressive enough for me :p but it seems to be just fine for everyone else. I just use STI for all my replacement parts, good balance of cheap and quality and usually they are easily available. I use Tripp Cobra mags for all my competition needs, they have always worked really well for me and you can order them directly from their site for the best price and pretty speedy delivery.

Send me a PM and I'll give you info about practice, I don't teach lessons but I can put you in contact with the guy who trained me and runs a weekly 3 hour practice night for $20. And he is a much better shooter than I am

interest in the cz p-09? I'll make sure to keep an eye out for it. I'm keeping a list of all the other suggestions as well

Yes any comp CZ review id be interested in. I am new to shooting, but I had the chance to try a local IPSC shooters Tanfoglio Stock II Xtreme which he said is around $2500. And other people keep mentioning CZ, and that they shoot just as good but for much cheaper. Personally I have no problem spending $2500 on a comp gun, but would be nice to see a review of any model of either brand...
