With anticipation of a welcome change of government and ability to purchase pistols again, I've been looking into what I can get when the time comes. Planning to purchase a pistol or two on day one lol. I have smaller hands and find a lot of grips uncomfortable, but I do really like the SP-01 grips (but not the Shadow 2 grips). Does anyone know if any other CZs have grips like the SP-01? I plan to use this for plinking fun as well as for IPSC.

1) Sorry to burst your bubble but you'll never again be able to buy handguns in Canada.

2) The grips on a Shadow 1 and Shadow 2 are nearly identical. Unless you specifically mean the material, rubber versus aluminum? Or thickness? Shadow 1 thicker than Shadow 2? If so, maybe a Jericho?

The Shadow 2 is a beautiful gun, and I shoot it well. But it doesn't fit me as well as the SP01. I think it's the sharp change of angle on the back of the handle. I read that the SP01 is discontinued, so I'm looking for something similar in the hopes, perhaps pointless, that we'll be able to purchase again soon after next election :)

A few yrs back there where a lot of surplus Jericho in Canada in the 400.oo range, nice compact grip as is the older CZ,
A 1911 is little longer, but slimmer. Grips make a lot of difference
Even if the regulations change , them days are over of cheap surplus.

A PS regarding grips, for yrs with my 1911 custom gun, I used a set of steel plates under the walnut colt grips, added some weight and I think added to the balance.
I wear a size 9 glove, so not large hands, I know, nothing to do with the post, point being different grips can really change the feel of a gun.
A Glock just feels wrong to me, but I am not use to those.
A standard S-W mid frame revolver or colt just points correct for me

Shadow 1 with VZ grips is what I prefer. Have you looked at Canik?
Funny you mention that. I'm currently using a TP9 SFX. I got MagMo to make me a super small backstrap so it fits my hand better. I like it, but I find the SP01 grip better. I've also been eyeing the PPQ Match Steel, especially after seeing the thin LOK grips for it.

I hope your wrong on that, I can see us never getting to buy AR15's again, or maybe never even being able to use the ones we have. but I think handguns may be a bit different.

Phoenix Redback?

Find is similar to my SP-01 Shadow.

Fits the wife’s hands well.

I also liked the Jericho grips better than the Shadow 2 .
You may try some of the Walter's ( the Creed or PPQ worked for me the PPX don't ) or Beretta 92
I suggest to keep going to the range and try as many as people let you. You will know what works for you by the time we are able to purchase again

I swapped my Shadow 2 blue grips to LokGrips' Palm Swell Bogies for IPSC because the S2 original grips were slippery with sweaty hands. The Palm Swells are pretty much the same profile as the SP-01 rubber grip (bulges out into the palm) but are not rubber. The Bogies provided the most aggressive grip available. I do not have large hands and find the fit excellent/better ergonomics and the gun doesn't slip at all.

Photo below is a side by side between the S2 factory grip vs the LokGrip Palm Swell Bogie.
