There is a variable cornucopia of reloading info out there in www land. What I did was puruse my on hand reloading manuals and narrowed powders listed down to what I had on hand or what was available in the stores.
I ended up trying out 4 different powders and ended up using H335 which had the best results (I can shoot primers out of shotgun shells at 100m). I didn't spend a mental amount of time and the results were awesome.
Have fun, that's what it's all about.

I don't know the barrel twist, I'll get back to you on that. I am planning on just shooting up to 400 yards and maybe go further? Not for hunting.

As for what the store has well my gunsmith is done ordering powders/primers he is getting old and sick of the business. So I'll be buying online... if there are any dealers out there now is the time to make a customer :D

cansoldier45 we're you using H335 for .223?

Where abouts are you? Some dealers don't like the hassle of shipping primers and powders. Other dealers Like Higginsons in Ontario do it every day. fS

I started using H335 because i got several pounds from an estate,
worked up a fantastic accurate load, and never bothered to change.
I believe this was the powder made for the military for the 5.56 (.223)

Captain... what kind of bullet? Lead (gas checked)? FMJ? Weight? Velocity?

For FMJ 55gr (Hornady Bulk) I use the same load as my AR... 25.5gr H4895.

For sub-sonic cast lead loads my bolt just loves 10.5gr of IMR 4227. You just have to adjust the scope as they shoot lower at 100 & 200m but group really nicely. I hardly use jacketed (FMJ & SP) in my bolt any more.

^No clue to what bullet we will be using. As I said we are just stocking up to start reloading! Great tips so far, don't be scared to let me know what bullet/powder/etc combos any of you found to be a good team. I'll get the twist sometime tomorrow as the rifle is not here!

Well Paul what kind of rifle is it? There are all makes and weights of bullets, match bullets from Berger for target shooting, Vmax bullets from Hornady for vermin shooting.
My favorites are 40gr vmax, load them in my 221 Fireball, 22 Hornet, 223. FS
