I was in Del's shop last week or so and with me was a chunk of stock with the proper size
of a pad I was trying to find.
He comes out with a book, magazine style with a bunch of butt prints in it.
Match your wood or butt pad to the shape in this book and it will give you what
#butt to order.
Pretty simple and ingenious all at the same time.
I can't remember whether it was Pachmyer that issued it or one of the other
butt makers.
Find a shop that has one and it will make life much easier.
