Hey guys,
Me again. I know I'm asking a lot of questions and I appreciate your help!

So I'm getting an SKS within a few weeks and decided to mount a Red Dot on a BC tactical scout mount.

Question is, which one do you suggest. I've been leaning towards the Bushnell TRS-25, but do you have other suggestions?

My budget is 100$. Or less! :D

thanks!

Daniel

$100 or less? Buy one with good warranty in fact buy whichever one you can with any warranty on it. Don't expect much for $100

$100 or less budget means to get something decent, you're going to have to go used and get a lucky deal in EE. Yes, there's NCStar stuff, but I don't trust it on anything other than a .22LR (I tried putting the D4B multi-reticle on, but the tail end sticks out and catches ejecting shells)

TRS-25? Go for it. I've heard nothing but good out of them. You're going to have to spend $170 though, which exceeds your budget.

I've seen some online for under 100$. On ebay as well.

If you can save up a bit more cash you can buy yourself far better quality. The SKS action cycles pretty hard and will kill most low-end optics in short order. Its really a you-get-what-you-pay-for market so be weary of the cheap stuff. Good optics are more expensive for a reason. I like my Vortex Strikefire, they can be had new for around $170.

I would save up and look at something like the Sparc or the Strike Fire from Vortex. They will hold up to the pounding of the SKS. The cheaper the red dot, the more problems will arise.

Lifetime warranty on the Vortex optics.....

I vote trs-25, works great for the money on mine. Sparc would work well too. I haven't tried it, but I feel the strikefire might be a little large on the scout mount.

if you are worrying about mounting two rings on it, don't worry. It mounts with just one ring, and has been doing fine on my buddy's m14.

I was thinking more of the length, my trs will get struck by casings unless its at the very front. The strikefire would like require some sort of cantilever mount, and even at that, it might still be an issue. Might have difficulty getting any sort of cheek weld as well.
