what removes parkerizing???

If you google removing parkerizing there is good information out there. The same concerns about using chemicals and so on. If possible I would bead blast it.

Maybe could send it to Arms-coat and have them sand blast it, then arma-clear coat it... In case of rust... Would have to contact Murdoc about it

I don't know if it will remove parker finish but I have used vinegar to remove blue finish and it works well. Dampen cloth and wrap the object. After few minutes remove cloth and steel wool. Polish. It will have chrome appearance. I have always reblued after. Vinegar is cheap and easy to work with.

I took a polishing wheel to an SKS (a long, long time ago) and it looked like a N.Korean ceremonial rifle afterwards (not my intention). Didn't rust either.

If you had a buffing wheel/polish go for it. Making the surface mirror smooth definitely makes it much harder for rust.

Gawd dammm....

I really just wanted something to polish....all you friggn rich kids who order any old crap at the drop of a hat...

.......im outa here..........

I don't know why polishing wouldn't work.
There are plenty of surplus rifles that had nothing but polished steel bolts, and they still look good 70 years later.
